Justice League Generation Lost overview

Justice League Generation Lost continues to be a great read and everything we are NOT getting from the Booster Gold title right now and more interesting to me than Geoff Johns’ penned Brightest Day. Although the main Brightest Day weekly book is full of characters I like, I can’t really tell you what is going on in it after three issues. It just seems to meander from character to character check in with no real tie other than they are all back from the dead. Generation Lost has been the exact opposite in two issues it has laid out the plot and grouped our characters together with the common problem that Maxwell Lord is back from the dead. He has wiped out his presence of earth form everyone except Booster Gold, Captain Atom, Fire and Ice. Maxwell Lord has set about to discredit all of these heroes except for Booster Gold who needed no help in that department since no one but the reader takes him seriously. Maxwell Lord has made on giant mistake that has gotten Booster Gold fired up and will likely be Lord’s downfall. Lost might be over but Generation Lost has just begun so read on for a recap of issue one and some spoilers about issue two.

Justice League 44 - I am not happy.

This issue of Justice League spends a lot of time trying to convince us that a four-person team is a Justice League. Can you call a talking Gorilla a person? I don’t know the answer to that one but I’m not buying this as an official version of the Justice League just yet. At least a fifth member shows up at the end of the story and while I am happy with her inclusion in the new League this is far from a complete roster. Justice Leagues need to have at least 7 to 10 major members if not more. We were promised a larger League but we are not getting it yet. James Robinson confirmed at C2E2 that he was told most of his starting cast would be temporary and it appears that Dan Didio has been meddling again. Isn’t this what drove the last writer off the book? He was so frustrated with Dan’s editorial tampering and not allowing characters to be used he blabbed it to all of us on the internet which made Dan and DC look bad and then he got fired. Are we headed down the same road again? Certain writers will not share their characters; I’m talking to you Geoff Johns. Time was Superman and Batman could be 12 places at once yet Hal Jordan and his fantastic ring along with the super speedy Barry Allen can’t be anywhere outside a John’s penned book? Horse Hockey!

Justice League 43 review and Spoilers

Rise and Fall seems to be an apt title for this issue of Justice League as just as things seem to come together they start to fall apart again. It was looking like membership was finally getting settled for this new team but it appears that James Robinson is now having to cope with what drove Dwayne McDuffie to distraction on the book that of members not be available. There are too many story lines that currently involving current League members going on elsewhere, leaving the reader to wonder whom exactly is on this team? Maybe this is the plan or maybe James Robinson is being forced to work around the Green Arrow tale that is unfolding in his book and Arsenal’s mini series but right now it is hard to tell from this issue. The only thing that seems for sure is that four members of our new League are definitely on board, who else is along for the ride remains to be seen.

Rise and Fall of the Justice League Spoilers

I had planned to do a recap on the fallout from Cry For Justice this week, but since the one shot Rise and Fall Of the Justice League came in this week I’ve decided to combine my review with my overview of Cry For Justice. I am going to assume that everybody has had time to read the shocking ending of Cry For Justice 7 and the last few pages so I am going to push ahead and discuss this. For those of you who have not, please stop reading here; there will be spoilers and details on both books.

Co Pick of week- Cry for Justice

It was a light week at the comic book shop being the first of the month but at least three books packed a punch, we’ve discussed Buffy already, and I must mention Milestone Forever eventually but Cry for Justice had quite a shocking ending. Again this ending is so big, I’m going to wait a week to let everyone read it so it is not spoiled but I’m going to talk about most of the book here. It gets my co-pick of the week for Analog because there is no choosing between Buffy and my love of JLA. They are both great. We’ll talk about everything up to that last three page of Cry of Justice but that is. Spoilers ahead and we’ll talk ending next week when I talk about fallout from this series

Justice League 42 Review and Spoilers

Well dang it all, didn’t this issue of Justice League of America have just about everybody in it, From Challengers of the Unknown to the Power Company??? Just to name a few. Too bad our heroes aren’t sure they want in to be in this Justice League, but they better get ready because it seems they are about to face some sort of Evil New Gods complete with Dr What-is-face ...err I mean Dr. Impossible. Can James Robinson make Brad Meltzer’s throwaway villain relevant or perhaps even menacing? Too soon to tell but since DC Direct and Mattel have both granted this one hit wonder a figure already I suppose someone should try. I wasn’t exactly on board with some of the choice for team members for this team but as things move along, I’m starting to like some of them. So there are some spoilers ahead, so get ready for a New Justice League.
