Still Analog in a Digital World

This issue of Batgirl seemed more like an old issue of Batman Family (yes, Mr. Analog is old and dating himself) as everyone in the Batman universe stopped by more a visit. While Stephanie definitely had her moments in this issue, she was almost squeezed out of her own book by all of the cameos. I was thinking I might drop this book with the announcement of the Bird of Prey return, but Bryan Q Miller kept me interested with a great choice of villain. Stephanie is still being portrayed as screw-up, and I really wish they’d let her succeed at something by herself. She does at least get in a few digs at the obnoxious new Robin. So warm up the Bat signal for some spoilers and let’s head to Gotham.

I hadn’t really planned to review Batgirl #5, since I had been so hard on the title in the last review. I’ll admit that I was maybe too hard on it because it wasn’t what I really wanted. However, the latest issue arrived with Barbara and Stephanie seeming to settle into their roles. In fact, I believe that this issue was a major step in the right direction. So let’s see where the former SPOILER and her new boss are this issue. See how clever I was there? Not really? Okay clink the link already.

We’re starting a feature here called Way Back Wednesday on Analog. We’ll go back and look at an older comic (bet it will be Justice League a lot) or at compilations. First up is the DC Showcase Presents Batgirl TP Vol 1. Why this one? Well, we just plain love Barbara Gordon. Can’t live with out her.
