Survivor 20 week 7 post game

It’s week 7 on Survivor and the heroes are attempting a rally led by Colby while over in the villains’ camp Russell is pretty pleased with himself surviving last week’s risky move at tribal council. Boston Rob says that in three times playing Survivor this the first time he has ever been surprised in a tribal vote. He senses something has gone very wrong in the villains’ camp and he’s right the villains’ tribal is split between alliances and their tight knit group is threatening to fall apart. Will it be enough for the diminished heroes to take advantage or will another puzzle stop them right tracks?

On the morning of day 16 Rob awakes to find Russell, Parvati and Danielle laughing it up over out maneuvering Rob at the previous tribal council which baffles Rob as to how they can be so over confident while still being outnumbered. He discuses this with his allies Courtney, Sondra, and Jerri inside the tent. Meanwhile outside Paravti celebrates her new hero Russell but is about to get a surprise that she is not happy with. Russell tells the girls that they must now work on flipping Jerri over to their side that causes Parvati to roll her eyes and laugh. Russell has correctly identified the weak link to be flipped in Rob’s alliance and now focuses all his attention on bringing Jerri over to his side. Rob is concerned that someone in his alliance may be working with Russell because he is way too confident considering Rob appears to have numbers on his side.

Russell and his group are able to get Jerri alone and put on the pressure for her to join with the stronger group of players. Jerri is reluctant to commit but Russell is confidant that he can put two players together that hate each other in Parvati and Jerri to do his bidding. Parvati is not thrilled with Jerri since she will not commit to them and is so wishy washy about making a decision. Parvati promises Jerri a spot in the final four if she joins them which Jerri questions. Parvati says she did it in Micronesia and can do it again but can promise no more. Parvati thinks Jerri was impressed by Russell move to save her and thinks Jerri is jealous and wants someone to put themselves on the line for her and thinks Jerri is ready to jump.

At the heroes’ camp, Colby realizes it is put up or shut up time. He has been kept over the more popular James only because of injury and now is out to prove himself to the tribe. He tells the tribe he is going to prove it to them they made the right decision and it doesn’t take long. When presented with a reward challenge that involves shooting baskets in standing water Colby dominates. He soundly thrashes Coach who had gotten the best of him earlier and scores the first point in a game. The next point he is able to get the ball to unguarded Candice for a score and even gets to manhandle Jerri and throw her around in one point, which I’m sure he enjoyed. Colby scores the final point for the heroes and they have a much needed victory and a retreat for some food. The heroes now feel bonded for the first time but it is ruptured by a clue found by Candice to another immunity idol hidden in the heroes’ camp. The heroes try to ignore the clue and eat but eventually curiosity gets the best of meta game player Amanda and she breaks from eating to look at the clue. The heroes scold her for being the first to break but they also come to the conclusion that they must find the idol together and use the immunity idol against the villains. All appear to be in agreement with the plan for now and it is the last we will hear of the idol this episode.

Back at villains camp Jerri and Russell discuss whether she is on board with Russell’s team while Coach looks on. Jerri has come to the realization that she needs to be in Russell’s plans. Russell will of course say anything to further his cause promises Jerri it will be her, Coach and him in the final three. Jerri beckons Coach over to join the conversation as she lays out her plan for them to join Russell. Coach is taken aback by this change but keeps quiet and is forced to appear to go along with the plan. When Russell leaves Coach is playing his martyr card again and can’t believe that Jerri came to this decision without consulting him. They have been together since day one as an alliance and he feels betrayed by her. Jerri realizes that Coach has no ability to play this game in order to win and say correctly that to win you must go back on your word sometime. There appears to be a split between the two as Coach says he has given his word to Rob and doesn’t want to break it.

It’s immunity time and since Courtney sat out the last challenge for the villains she must participate in this one, which will prove costly. The challenge involves running over some netting and climbing to reach bags of puzzle pieces to be assembled at the end. The heroes have failed every puzzle put in front of them but have put two of their best minds on it in JT and Amanda. This forces Rupert to run his leg of the race with his broken foot from week one. This would seem to be to the villain’s advantage but Rupert fares better than expected and Colby more than makes up for any time Rupert loses. Candice plays a key part in the race as she learns to navigate the netting better on her second run against Courtney. The fragile looking Courtney fails to master the netting and costs the villains a lot of time. Amanda and JT getting a good head start on the villains use this to their advantage and quickly piece the puzzle together for a much needed win. The heroes are safe from tribal and villains are headed for a show down between Rob and Russell.

After the loss, Rob discusses who should be going with Russell and he points out weak links Courtney and Sandra right to their faces and says they should be going. Rob is dumbfounded by this and asks what kind of strategy is that of telling the person you are voting out to their face what you are doing. Russell says you would be surprised how well it works. Later Rob discusses with his alliance that he knows Russell is coming for him. Eventually Rob is left alone with Jerri who he tries to convince to stick with him because she is a smart girl. Rob incorrectly thinks Coach is no longer in his corner. Jerri has a decision to make to either stick with the old school player like Rob or go with Russell.

At tribal there is much debate on whether the villains are unified anymore, Coach says losing Tyson fractured the group and that he was the glue holding the various alliance together. Russell disagrees and states that alliances are the key and that he has proved himself to his by saving Parvati last tribal. When Rob tries to disagree, Russell says he doesn’t see Rob doing the same for his alliance. It’s showdown time as the villains vote and the only votes in doubt are Jerri’s and Coach’s. As Jeff reads the votes it is a three to three tie for Russell and Rob. The next vote is for Courtney, which is obviously Coach’s vote since he won’t go against Rob and had said he was voting to keep the team strong by jettisoning the weaker players. The final vote comes in and Jerri has flipped taking out Rob. Although she doesn’t seem happy about it and is the first to hug Rob as he leaves, Rob incorrectly thinks Coach betrayed him and refuses to hug him and belittles coach as he leaves.

The villains’ camp is very dysfunctional right now which may lead to the heroes to gain footing again in this game and one can never tell what will happen at the merge. Coach has gone against Russell, which doesn’t bode well for him. Anybody that crosses Russell is automatically in his sites and I’m not sure Jerri will be able to save him. I was surprised by Jerri move this week, but as she says she is in it to win it but I don’t think she has chosen her alliance well. Parvati will be looking to get rid of her as soon as possible and Russell is nobody’s ally but his own. Jerri had much more trustworthy allies in Coach and Rob but now she is at Russell’s mercy. There is a lot of game left since we still haven’t filled out any members of the jury. Russell looks to be in control now but then that is usually the worst place to be in survivor.
