Amazing Race Final Five

After an incredibly bad day at my new temporary job that I can’t talk about, what a joy it was to come home and sit back relax and watch the Amazing Race. I know I have been behind in blogging and coverage of The Race and Survivor, I must comment of this weeks episode of the Amazing Race because it contained more good one liners that any other one that I can remember. I was really sorry to see the father daughter team of Steve and Ally exit the race last leg. The weaker teams ruled the day and may have set up a victory for some strong ones that survived, I must say one team got the comeuppance that I had been waiting for and I’m still gloating about it as I type this. So sit back and forget your crappy for day at work and let’s talk Amazing Race.

The Cowboys did the incredible last leg over coming a speed bump while starting from last place and vaulted all the way to first. They started the leg in first place in Malaysia and are told make their way Singapore via bus and then train to search Victoria Concert Hall and then locate for Amazing Race Asia host Alan Woo. Although teams are on different buses to begin with they all end up bunched up on the sleep over train to Singapore. They are all again on the same footing. As the teams attempt to leave the train the lesbian couple Carol and Brandy attempt to bully their way past the Detectives and Brent and Caite. This gets them nowhere with the pairs, in fact the Detectives have set a trap for the lesbian duo that they are waiting to spring. They have played on Caite’s dislike of Carol and Brandy and convinced her in one of my favorite quotes EVER from the Amazing Race “to U-TURN THE FUCK OUT OF THE THEM!” Caite is frantic almost all leg to get to the front of the pack to get her revenge on duo who has talked trash about her since the starting leg.

Surprisingly The Brother pair of Dan and Jordan is the first to find Alan Woo and get the race’s only fast forward. Seizing this opportunity the Brothers decide to go for it and attempted a fast-forward that is incredibly daunting. The Brothers must now ride to the top of the Singapore flyer the tallest observation wheel in the world, but that is not all they must then don safety harnesses and climb out more than five hundred feet in the air and move from one observation pod to another. The Brothers climbs to the top of wheel and are frightened but get there first before any other team.

Meanwhile other teams must choose between pounding the drums and pounding the pavement. In pounding the drums teams must be taught by a child musician to pound the drums in a rhythmic pattern until he deems them ready to perform on a stage. Most teams choose this instead of pounding the pavement where teams must sell a certain amount of ice cream to locals. The Cowboys arrive first to the drum task but struggle with only to see Caite excel at it. Caite tells us that she can’t sing but she does have rhythm and leads Brent in learning how to bang the drums properly. Caite and Brent are the first to leave this task. The Detectives arrive and quickly decide that this not for them and abandon it and decide they want to try the fast-forward.  As the Brandy and Carol arrive, Carol will struggle with learning the task and attempt to change Brandy’s mind but the stubborn Brandy will not listen.

Back at the Singapore flyer panic starts to overtake the Brothers on whether or not they can complete the task because of the height. The Detectives arrive but must ride to the top of the elevator only to find out the fast-forward is in progress. They quickly now must head to pound the pavement to make up lost time to sell ice cream. As the Brothers overcome their fear the next funniest line of this week race is uttered. I’m not sure which but one Brother tells the other before climbing out of the safety of the observation pod “that if you fall and die I still love you.” I’m sure he meant well but telling someone that if they fall 540 feet to their death that they still love him isn’t something I’d want to hear even from my brother. Both brothers survive the harrowing task and are rewarded with directions to the pit stop and a first place finish at the Marina Barrage.

Brent and Caite are the first to locate the Istanga Park where the next clue is and the U-Turn. It not be a blind U-turn this time as Brent and Caite must post their photo along side the team they U-turn. True to her word Caite gets to ‘U-TURN THE FUCK OUT THE LESBIANS” and revels in her revenge as do I. While Caite is no brainiac she has not deserved the constant tormenting that Brandy has heaped upon her for weeks. Brent and Caite are now sent to a shipyard and the roadblock that involves counting links on huge chain.

As the Detectives try to finish up hawking ice cream sandwiches to locals, Brandy and Carol have finally mastered the drumbeat and get the clue leading them to the park leaving the Cowboys stranded. Carol and Brandy arrive at the U-turn and are surprised that Caite and Brent have U-turned them. They declared it a dumb moves and further blast Caite. I can’t believe that after mouthing off every leg about Caite that the duo did not see this coming. Sure it would have been better to target the Detectives or the Cowboys but what goes around comes around and the Lesbian pair is off to sell ice cream. Louie and Michael arrive behind the pair and are delighted to see their trap sprung as planed and they are off to the Shipyard.

Brent makes quick work of counting the links in the giant anchor chain as the Cowboys finally master the drumbeat and are headed to the park. Brandy and Carol are in full fledged bickering mode as they try to set up to sell Ice Cream and still can’t get over Caite and Brent beating them to the u-turn. Brent receives the clue to the pit stop and he and Caite check in to a second place finish. Phil asks why the pair chose to use the U-turn and Caite tells him that the duo haven been mean to her throughout the race and brought their fate upon themselves. I agree.

The Cowboys are relieved to find out they have not been U-turned and head to the shipyard while Carol and Brandy struggle to sell Ice cream. The Detectives arrive at the shipyard and again make quick work of the counting task and finish third. It is now down to the Cowboys vs. Lesbians in a race to the shipyard and the pit stop. Two strong teams face elimination but they Cowboys survive and utter the third funny line of the night about the drum task saying “the only instrument they play is.... the radio!” Carol and Brandy reach the finish line last all the while complaining about Brent and Caite. Could this be a non-elimination leg? OH HELL NO! All I will say about it is DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD! The witch being Brandy! So two strong teams will face off against two weaker teams in the final four. Is Caite brighter than we give her credit? Can The Brothers bumble their way to victory or will it be a showdown at the OK corral between Cowboys and Detectives. We’ll have to wait 2 weeks to find out but damn it fells good to be gangster tonight.
