Personal update

I thought I’d throw in a small personal update since I don’t have anything else to post here for today. I really have been trying to post something everyday but it is hard when you are the only one writing. I had really hoped to some other folks involved with writing for this site but no else seems interested or they promise me articles and then never deliver. Analog-ville has been a ghost town reader wise in March too for some reason, I was getting about 50 people to readers a day, now I can’t crack 30. 27 or 28 readers seems to be the number, and it isn’t always the same folks because I can tell by what they are reading. I can see that but not who they are. Anybody who has suggestions on where else to link to I am open to suggestions. I would like to thank the Women in comics blogspot people, without them re-linking the articles I have submitted I would have little or no web presence outside some friends’ websites.

The Justice League Website has hit and snag with a dreamweaver problem I can’t fix and I have a lot of writing to do it but the more writing I do the less designing I’m able to do since I’m not a quick typist or writer. I’ve been working out pretty heavily which has let me too exhausted to work on anything else but Analog. My readership keeps dwindling there so I’m not sure how much longer this experiment will continue even though I own the domain for the next five years. I was pretty optimistic out of the gate there wasn’t I?

On the job front, I got bad news from the St Louis Zoo, they were hiring people for temporary summer work and I spent about 3 hours filling out their on line application after attending their job fair. I thought my mini interview with a zoo employee went well but yesterday an e-mail arrived saying you have impressive credentials but we’ve decided to go with a person who was a better fit. Guess because I wasn’t a high school kid or a retiree they were afraid to hire me and have me take another job later. As if, it’s been nine months and I’ve had two phone interviews and that’s it. I’m pretty sure I could handle filing or telling people they are standing too close the Tiger cage, but as I friend pointed out I’m not really a friendly person especially to people I don’t know.

I was working small jobs for a guy freelance but I think I pissed him off because I wasn’t easy to get a hold of because of school that is about done now. He has not called me, I didn’t really enjoy working with him so guess that came off in our interactions, I tried to jazz up his financial post cards and stuff with some nice photographic clip art but he didn’t like it. He wanted plain and boring so that’s what I gave him. Doesn’t matter now since I haven’t heard from him since January. It was totally my fault. I’m going to break down and try Creatives on Call temp agency I guess, I have no choice at this point but I think I’ll wait since march madness starts next week and I always took vacation for that anyway. I love the first Friday and Saturday of the tournament.

Still haven’t heard from the census even though I got 93 out of 100 on their test, I thought I would have heard something by now but not a word. People keep telling to be patient and that they will call, and I know the forms have just been sent out and will arrive next week but still it would be nice to hear something. I got a letter from them yesterday that I thought might be thanks but no thanks letter but it was the standard the census will be in your mailbox next week letter.

The only thing that seems to be working out right (pun intended) is working out. Although the scale at home that I fixed with a new battery says I’m ten pounds heavier than the one at the gym. I kind of thought the one at the gym was wrong when I weighed in there since I knew I was at my heaviest weight ever. I got a free personal trainer session and they made me weigh trying to sell me on that service but didn’t have money for the gym, I certainly don’t have money for personal trainers. The kid was nice though. I wasn’t thrilled with having to weigh in front of somebody but I am down 3 pounds from the original weigh at the gym weigh in. Too bad I have some much more to go. I’m mentally writing one of those buried life list like the kids on the MTV show and one of the my things to do before I die is weigh 200 pounds even again. I’ll just say I’m about 60 some odd pounds from that goal or more if you go by the home scale. I hate you home scale. I also decide one of the things on the list is have lunch with Tina Fey because figured Tina Fey would be cool enough to agree to have lunch with a stranger who was doing reality show like list thing. Who wouldn’t want to have lunch with such a funny charming and beautiful successful woman? Well it’s time to work out, got to look good for my lunch with Tina.

I think lunch with Tina Fey is an awesome goal! Going with Creatives on Call or The Creative Group is a great idea - that's how the last 3 people, who are now full time, were hired at Schnucks. Companies don't want give out the benefits, etc.until they know the person/position is a sure thing. Go for it!
