Amazing Race week three post game
Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10:48AM WARNING TEAM ELIMINATED WILL BE DISCUSSED IN LAST PARGRAPH!
It’s week three of the Amazing Race and the cowboys are still riding high. A beauty queen is headed to the hospital. Some former Big Brother contestants are lacking some reading and comprehension skills. Two moms are about to find out how hard it is to learn the ropes. One team can’t even find it way even with the aid of compass, and a lot teams are afraid of a little horseplay. We’ll make like gauchos and roundup up some spoilers and head for Argentina.
Jet and Cord he start their leg at 11:20pm and are told to make their way to a bus station for a 6 hours bus ride to Argentina but there are two buses and the first one has only has room for the top three teams and leaves at 8:30 a.m. Upon arriving in Argentina, they are to look for a bar that was once used as hideout for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and pickup a roaming gnome from Travelocity. With time to kill the cowboys again show off the knack for finding helpful locals by going into a bar, They luck out by running into two local girls who speak English and one of whom lived in Argentina for 3 years and has been to the bar they are looking for. The cowboys now have exact directions to where the first clue box is located. Joe and Heidi along with Carol and Brandy leave second and third with the first clue and head to the bus station. Upon meeting up with the cowboys, Carol and Brandy are still upset about being outwitted by the cowboys last leg and attempted to grill them on which bus they were on and how they found out about it. Apparently the lesbian couple isn’t aware that cowboys are generally the strong and silent type and get nothing from the cagey cowboys.
Meanwhile Brent and Caite have awoken to find that they both have food poison and Caite is throwing up in the bathroom of their hotel. They are so sick for the first time I can remember a team must visit the hospital while a leg is going on and don’t even get the clue to start the leg. All the teams behind them start and pass them while both Brent and Caite get IV’s due to dehydration and spend three hours in a Chilean Hospital. Finally feeling strong enough to continue but still both looking very bad, they are released from the hospital about 4 am. Fearing elimination they get their clue and start the leg and are surprised to find out they still have a chance since the second bus still doesn’t leave until 8:50 pm.
The alliance of Joe, Heidi, Carol and Brandy have realized that the cowboys are team to be reckoned with and decided to tail them closely wherever they go. The cowboys spot this immediately and prove again how smart they are by pulling over and acting lost while knowing they have exact directions. The two teams trailing them speed by thinking that they finally have put one over on the cowboys but are surprised to find the cowboys have still beat them to the first clue. Meanwhile the second bus arrives and all teams on this bus struggle with directions to the bar. The brothers Dan & Jordan have issues with a stick shift again and still sick Caite must drive for her team since she is only one who can drive a stick while the directional challenged Brent leads them out of their way.
The lead teams must play a hand of five-card stud and against the gnome until they get a winning hand and beat him. The Cowboys’ lucky streak ends as they keep losing to the Gnome. Joe and Heidi win their first hand and are quickly followed by Carol and Brandy as both teams collect their gnome. They are directed to a roadblock at Gaucho contest nearby and must learn to rope from the Gauchos a cattle skull attached to hay bale. Both teams struggle with this task as the cowboys finally win a hand and enter the roping contest. Jet misses on his first try but quickly ropes in the skull and the clue. Bandy complains up storm since this task is geared for the cowboys but as they point about that they didn’t complain about both Carol and Brandy being able to speak Spanish. Jet and Cord are back in the lead and headed to Puente Nirihuau to search the cliffs for their next clue. Jordan and Jeff have arrived in time to enter the roping contest only to see the rest of the leaders finish the task. Carol and Brandy leave in second place but start bickering that will continue throughout the rest of leg. The father Daughter team of Steve and Allison arrive at the bar as Jeff finishes up roping.
Jet and Cord locate the clue box along the cliff that leads to the detour. Teams are asked to ride horses and score a goal in nine strokes of the mallet or use directions given to them by a gunslinger on piece of paper in numbers of foot steps from a North South East West guide sign to find buried treasure and take it to a train station and give it to the lead bandit. In addition the bag with the money has coordinates on it that must match the ones of the paper. This will throw all the teams beside the cowboys for a loop. The cowboys correctly choice the easier choice of polo and think they are going to be riding real horses but are disappointed to find a wooden horse instead that one must ride and hit the polo ball and then dismount to carry the fake horse to where the ball has landed. Jet and Cord score a goal finishing easily and are headed to the pit stop already.
Back at the bar, the Moms and Detectives arrives to try their luck at cards and roping as Carol and Brandy arrive at the detour and fear dealing with horse as most of the teams do at first and choose to look for treasure. Joe and Heidi take a wrong turn before arriving at the detour and that allows team Big Brother of Jordan and Jeff to get ahead. Jeff fails to read the last part of the clue about taking it to the train station that will cost them when they incorrectly continue to take the bags they find back to the gunslinger. Joe and Heidi arrive at the detour next and Joe is overconfident because he has a compass built into his watch and ignores the footsteps directions. This cost them valuable time also. All three teams struggle with finding the buried treasure. Carol and Brandy are the first to abandon it and go the polo challenge but by this father daughter of Steve and Allison have arrived and correctly choose the polo and are able to move up to finish second followed by Carol and Brandy. Joe and Heidi finish fourth.
The Moms can not get the roping at the gaucho contest and watch team after team go by them and are still trying to rope when last place team Brent and Caite arrive. Brent steps up and quickly ropes the cattle head leaving the moms in last place. Back at the treasure hunt Jeff is baffled by what they are doing wrong and even get an assist from the detectives who find Jeff and Jordan’s bag by mistake. Jeff finally realizes they need to go to the train station and they head out and eventually get to the pit stop. All team waste time wandering around looking for treasure, and finally abandon it for the polo. The moms have finally roped their clue head towards the detour and remaining team descend on the polo field, which consist of brothers Dan and Jordan, the detectives Louie and Michael, Brent and Caite. All teams struggle with the polo allowing the moms to catch up. The brothers who have struggled the most at polo finally figure it out and score a goal. It’s down to three teams but the moms although game have found another thing not in their skill set. Brent and Caite pass the detectives and amazingly avoid elimination despite being lost all leg and a trip to the hospital. The Detectives finish scoring their goal, which causes the Moms to abandon the polo for fear of injuring their backs. It’s off to the gunslinger and the map for them. The dimwitted detective survive yet another leg as they reach the pit stop leaving the Moms to finish up the treasure search and hope for an non-elimination leg but it’s not to be.
Steve and Allison’s slow and steady approach has made them a team to keep an eye on but Cowboys are still dominating early but they appear to run into trouble nest week in Germany with beer drinking contest. Carol and Brandy’s meltdown could cause them trouble if they continue to bicker despite their strong finishes so far.
