Please help support Vision Racing!

Analog loves Indycar racing, while I have yet to talk much about it here, I was sadden to hear of Vision Racing having to suspend operations due to lack of a sponsor this year. They have asked fans to come to their aid by wriiting letters of support that they can show the letters to sponsors in hopes of continuing to race this year. Enclosed is the letter of support I sent to Vision racing. If you would like to be involved with saving this team, you can go to the facebook page I will post inside this entry and read how you cand get involved. Thank you for reading and I hope we can all make a difference for Vision Racing.

Dear Perspective Sponsor of Vision Racing,

First of all I would like to thank you for considering to sponsor Vision Racing, they are a very hard working and up and coming race team. If you should choose to sponsor them, I do not think you would be disappointed. Ed Carpenter the main driver for Vision racing has shown improvement every year on ovals and I feel is poised to break though as a top-level driver. You can help this happen by lending your sponsorship to the Vision Racing team that they so desperately need. Ed has the skill and the determination to be a top driver in my opinion, they only thing that has held him back is experience, which he now has, and lack of funding to the team. You can make a difference there with your support.

Ed Carpenter was involved one of the most thrilling and exciting races last year at Kentucky Meijer Indy 300 which came down to a split second loss to the better funded Penske team driver Ryan Briscoe. This race fan was literally jumping out of his seat at the last ten laps and the finish the race. Your money sponsoring Vision racing could bring this excitement to the series more often and this race fan will in turn support your business buying your products in any way he can to show support for this decision.

The Indycar series is at a make or break period, while Izod sponsorship of the entire series is an important component it doesn’t help if there are no individually sponsored cars to run these races. You can make a difference by showing your support.

Finally I would like to personally thank Menard’s group for their years of sponsorship of Indycar. They have been intrical to the continuation of the series. I am by no means a new fan to the sports, and can remember I time when more than one Menard’s car raced around the brickyard. I recognize that these are difficult times that require hard decisions to be made. I know the decision to not continue forward with sponsorship must have been difficult for the owners of Menard’s and heartbreaking considering their long time involvement with Indycar. It is a difficult road ahead for us all; I myself have been laid off and am looking for work for about 6 months now. Personal problems aside, I would happily support Vision Racing financially if I were able but I don’t have the funds to do so. Hopefully the person who reads this does and can make a difference. I can only do my small part and send a letter of support for the team.

People like Vision Racing, Ed Carpenter and the good people over at Sarah Fisher racing enrich our lives and deserve your support. Sarah Fisher has worked tirelessly to promote Indycar though her Ellen2Indy project. Ed like Sarah is a solid citizen that will make you proud should choose to back him. I thank you for your consideration of sponsorship of this fine team and hope see your logo on their car soon so I can support your business in these tough economic times.

Indycar is a turning point and you can make a difference in saving the sport I love, so please consider my plea. Thank you again and I hope to see you at Indy.

Michael Wendler
