Mistakes were made!

I spoke at the end of my last blog entry about the people who say they have no regrets and if they had it all to over again that they wouldn’t change anything about their lives, because it has made them the person that they are today. To that I say bullshit, you are either lying to yourself to make yourself feel better or you are just plain deluded. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger? I should be Superman right about now but I feel much more like Frogman. This is not to say that we shouldn’t make mistakes or learn from them. There are plenty of mistakes that Mr. Analog would not trade because he learned and grew from them, however they are a few like the carnation incident that he would like a “do over” on. Wasn’t that great when a dispute occurs during a game when you were a kid that could not be solved, that all it took was everybody agreeing to yell “DO OVER!” really loud and the problem was solved? In a effort to get to know some his readers a little better Mr. Analog would like to know what your biggest regret is?

If you could have one “DO OVER” what would it be? It might be the guy or girl that got away, the job you didn’t take, the friendship that ended for the wrong reason, or the friend who stood by in you in the toughest times but you have lost touch with now? A decision to relocate that went wrong, or the person who stole your heart and in return gave you nothing but pain. A thoughtless mistake you made by accident that caused harm to someone else. Perhaps a dispute with a parent that you can’t fix because they are now gone. Or one of the biggest of all, the inability to say three small words to the right person “I LOVE YOU.” Or it could be something small like Mr. Analog’s failure to send the “studious one with glasses” the carnation that she so richly deserved because he was afraid of what might happen.

Mr. Analog has also done three very terrible things in his lifetime to three very close friends. These will not be discussed here EVER. He hurt these people because like everyone else in life, he was thoughtless, self center and not concerned with anyone’s feelings but his own. It happens even to the best of us. Fortunately for Mr. Analog he has chosen his friends well, and two of the three have forgiven him although he clearly did not deserve it. We are still friend to this day. The third one that happened recently well that one is unclear and since we don’t really speak much anymore, I think that pretty much says it all. I am sorry for all of the above and would wipe them out in an instant if I could.

I am not asking you to reveal anything deeply personal that you need therapy for or anything you are not comfortable sharing or life threatening but I would like to know what you would change about your life if you could? I know I link these stories to a few sites on the internet but If you are so inclined please use the comment section below so I can read them easier and respond. I will enable the comments to more than the usual 20 available.

Now I need to get back to that DeLorean I’m working on because there a are few things that need a fixing. The space-time continuum be damn. I also hear that there is a hot tub that has a built in time machine somewhere that takes you back to the 1980’s. Although there is one friend I can think that I would lose by making that decision because we would have never met, I am tempted to dive in swim trunks and all. Good thing for my friend and I that no such thing exists.

Regrets: deciding that being a high school Latin teacher did not pay well enough and getting degrees in Russian instead. Not answering the following question more carefully: "What do you do with a degree in Russian?" Continuing my Ph.D program AFTER I realized that I was pregnant.

I'm sure Miss Loyet would have a fine replacement for Mrs Muniz. :)
