I got the music in... Me?

I wish I was a musician. Could play the guitar. Or the piano.
I wish I could sing or write songs. What great power that would be.
The ability to express myself through music would be a wonderful thing.

What brought this on?

Well I'm just back from a pre wrockstock party that featured
my new favorite Wizard rocker Steph Anderson aka Tonks
from the previous story. She put on a fabulous show along
with 3 other wizard rockers.

I'm glad I arrived early. Thanks Mom. God bless her soul
for making me chronically early everywhere I go, instead of
fashionable late like everyone else. That totally paid off this evening as
Tonks had to take the stage first because some of the
other groups were still traveling.

She did a great, but short set (too short for me) of some of her
stuff from her new cd, and some favs like Charlie Weasley.
Everybody seemed to enjoy it and danced happily.

What a power that is, to make people happy enough to dance,
or sad enough to cry because the power of a song. I wish I was that creative.

Wait aren't you an artist?, Yes I am. While some people might envy that skill,
I'll remind you that I'm a graphic artist. And I'm not sure how many shoe
ads have made anyone happy? Paris Hilton maybe, but that's about it.

My latest freelance effort was to do an invitation to get wealthy
IRA owners to attend a seminar to re-do their IRA so they pay less taxes.

Real dance material there?

And surprisingly the job fell though so I got nothing for my effort.

I didn't start out doing turtleneck ads and seminar flyers.
I started out tracing the funny pages, which eventually led to
wanting to be a Comic book artist and drawing Batman all day.

Turns out that gig is hard to do and get. You need to be really talented
and fast at drawing, which I wasn't.

Oh, but I can crank out that IRA flyer, I'm a demon with the clipart
and styling type. But I'd trade everything (well, not the action figure
display of the JLA but everything else) to be able to move people
like Steph did tonight. To make them happy enough to dance.

I wonder if she realizes how special she is? Well her new CD is
called "We are magic" so suppose she does. I'm sure she has a
day job somewhere that probably doesn't satisfy her. I'm mean
it's not like nitche genre rockers are pulling down Britney bucks.
But at least once in awhile, she gets to make people dance.

I envy her. If only had the music in me. Hmmmm.
Where are all the Justice League of America bands?
Maybe I could....

I'm starting to lose it, better get back to that IRA invite.
Well at least I can listen to Tonks while I work on it.

Thanks Steph.

Max,

Why don't you offer to do the cover of one of her CDs, or another one of these Wrockers? That way you can make some art you enjoy, support your new friends and their music, get your artwork seen, and maybe it will lead to a place where you can eventually start getting paid for it!

P.S. I like your blog.

Good idea, I don't know if I know any of them well enough to do that yet, but I'd be happy to do if asked. For free even, their songs have given me much joy this week. And thanks for reading and commenting. I plan to post something every day I can.
