A few words about Tolerance

This is not the blog Mr. Analog had planed for today, but is one he had planned, just early and different. Because he had planned great story about his all of his friends, but he’s not feeling very friendly. In fact, he is quite cranky. He's tired from writing this blog. And not in a good mood. So he thinks the friends blog should wait, about how they disappoint him, but mostly put up with him, and blindly support him even when he doesn’t deserve it.

Because Mr. Analog has had to learn quite a few things in one short week, there are domains to enable and twitter tweet. It has been hard for him and he feels obsolete. But one thing he’d forgotten that never gets obsolete. That hate is on the internet, and it’s right in your face.

Now Mr Analog, where have you been? Hate on the internet is not new thing, in fact we’ve been come used to it and we swim in river of it, like a trout who is going to spawn. But you see, Mr. Analog has been hiding. In a safe place with friends, who are very creative while still being supportive. Believe it or not, it is found on the internet. Why Mr. Analog you must be joking?, There is no such place, at least not in a chunk of cyberspace. But he will direct to a link on this blog. It been there since he opened, in fact it was put there as soon he learned how, to remind him of where he came from. And direct new friends back there too, because it is his home. He’s left it to see if he can stand on his own feet, but he won’t turn his back on it, because he just that damn loyal.

Come now Mr. Analog, tell us the name of this magical place, we must go there and see because we don’t quite believe it. It called the Doosh and it is a board of dumbness with like minded individuals. They talk about comics, and like to say “fuck.” quite a bit. They also love action figures so much, they can wait for them to be made. They must have their favorite in plastic sooner, not later. So it’s off to the store and to buy some to disassemble, then put back to together with parts from another. As they sculpt and paint. They begin to create, a new figure from ashes of old. The one they been dreaming of, and patiently waiting. For they are customizers, and that what they do.

Mr. Analog is one of these proud toy makers, and his skills have grown from when he has started. He refined them and got better, but still he has one flaw. He’s not a very good painter, because he’s not very patient. But the great thing about this, his fellow artists never call him on this, in fact they support him. They say “way to go”, but Mr. Analog’s not stupid, he has two eyes plus a digital camera, that catches every mistake he will make. Though Mr. Analog not the worst but he’s hardly the best. He encourages them all, even those who are not quite as skilled. Why you may ask? Because his mentors did for him when he started, and wasn’t quite good.

Now Mr. Analog, that’s a nice story but we find it hard to believe. There can’t be a place on the internet where “we can all just get along”. In fact that’s quite true, Mr. Analog can not lie. There have been fights and drama that have led to some splits. Because he’s that damn loyal he’s stayed quite put. And freedom speech was that so important to him, firmly stood. Even though he might have been wrong. Now Mr. Analog has paid dearly for this, by losing good friends. He has replaced them with some new ones but he has not forgotten. That all of this might not have happen if he could just learn to shut up.

And lately he’s been hanging with some wonderful wizards, who accepted him openly and gave him free hugs and good tunes. This has amazed him, and in fact quite surprised him. He can not believe it. They say he's a lieutenant of awesome, they must not really know him.  Because he has quite a mouth, one that will not stay closed. He gets this from his mother, who had the same problem. In fact, he is now blogging, to all that will listen.

And now he will tell you as he stood in amazement, among wizards half his age. Who acted so kind and loving it seemed like a foreign country he didn’t know existed. By their shouts of approval and of clapping hands to songs, like “Dumbledore is gay and that’s okay”  that he was among some people who knew who they were, and weren’t afraid to say it. Mr. Analog clapped too, because he has a secret, one that he is no longer afraid to tell. That his father was gay, but still married his mother anyway. He tried to be normal and do what’s expected. But try as he might he couldn’t quite hide it. This caused much chaos for young Mr. Analog, and made him act the way that he does. But he’s happy that these young wizards, won’t go have to go though what he did. They’ve already decided to live as they must, with or without your approval. The fact that they get this already, is still quite a stumper. Because Mr. Analog still lacks a purpose. Even though he thought he had found one by writing these messages.

But today he was reminded, that when you going looking for approval, sometimes instead you find hatred. And this was quite discouraging and downright depressing. And though he has pills, He takes daily to stop such feelings. But he still can’t quite shake this. He’s not sure what to do with the rest of his life.

He can’t believe that some will just hate him because he is new, and forgot to say spoiler on a simple review. “How dare you come among us, and try to share some dumb story. You’re stupid and worthless and you’ve ruined my day”. We don’t want you back, away you must stay. We don’t care you are jobless, because you probably deserve it anyway. You’re ignorant, and a jackass” because you were tired. You were up all night working, because you couldn’t quite sleep, and so you forgot to say spoiler when you wanted to share, about losing your hero. “This can not be forgiven, you have broken our code”. So we must shun you, to make us feel better about our own lousy life.

Now Mr. Analog hasn’t posted this looking for sympathy, in fact he’s okay. Because he has friends who will back him, even when he is wrong or mistaken. For some reason they love him, in spite of himself. And their number are six who are his whole crew. Although he has more fans now on facebook, and for that he is grateful. These are the six who will come running, when he is trouble which is quite often. In fact, there is a good one, who has encouraged his words, and been more supportive than he ever deserved. Because despite what he’s done, they still are friends tried and true. He won’t say which one it could apply to all six.

Now what was I mad at them for? I can’t quite remember. We’ve come to the end of my tale and thank you for reading. Mr. Analog is obsolete, but that is okay. At least he has friends who love him at the end of the day.

Of course we love you and not just because of your eloquent words and honest way you look at the world. We love your analog view in this rather snarky, nasty digital age.

Max, you can do it mate. Whoever treated you like that doesn't deserve to rate on your radar. You've taken a huge step, and you should be damn proud of yourself. It's all a learning curve. Good on you for doing something positive and proactive for yourself. Looking forward to reading more!

You should be proud. This is one damn good post. The Internet is a chaotic place where people with no name and no face can hang around and dare to say what they can't in their little lives with silly names and dumb faces attached. Being unknown is an aphrodisiac for the puny and suddenly the quiet shy geek turns into hate throwing bastard.

You forgot to write "spoiler"? Well too bad, some of the best film critic magazines tell the endings of the movies because they think their role is to analyze the product (film, comic, book) as a whole, ending included. The "spoiler" is a common courtesy, but if you forget to put it, still doesn't change the fact that when you read reviews this things might happen, if hey didn't want to find out that way then don't read reviews until you've seen/read the damn thing.

Keep writing Mr. Analog, and we'll keep reading.
